Motorcycle Insurance For Summer, Winter Only. Seasonal 1-6 months

By | February 1, 2019

Each year lots of people from across the nation, from various backgrounds, yet of more important varying weather environments or climates, have a desire to insure, use, enjoy, and later store away their motorcycle when the cold or snowy season comes along. Something that many bikers aren’t aware of is that there’s actually a statutory law that if your bike is not currently insured, you must submit a SORN (statutory off-road notification) to the DMV indicating the bike will not be in usage, and is stored away off the road and highways somewhere secure. Neglecting to do so can result in fines, suspension, repossession, and even possible jail-time. Is there motorcycle insurance offers for 1, 2, 3, 6 months?

Although it’s understandably difficult in many cases to achieve temporary, or seasonal-only motorcycle insurance, there are a few options. Some options include cancelling out the policy when the cold weather comes around and it goes into storage, signing up or transferring to a much cheaper, SORN-based insurance policy only during the cold season, or perhaps being added to the policy of the original or main owner — if applicable. Other choices include specialized, seasonal, or international motorcycle coverage when you borrow, rent, or lease a motorcycle and go for a seasonal or short-term only trip. While there are lots of options, it’s best to check with various providers and inquire within on your own.
